My Netflix Top Picks

I don't have a social life. Okay. I’ve said it. I don't have a social life and I don't think I ever will. As many of you know, I love nothing more than to stay inside, in my snuggly warm bed, with no bra on and watch endless amounts of Netflix.

So here are my some of my top picks of all time.

The Big Bang Theory

Although there are quite a few series, this is the kind of story I’m willing to engage with. I mean, a plot about wannabe actress who eventually falls for the man living next door to her… I can kinda relate there babe. Following the handful of goofy and often socially uncapable scientists almost made me feel like I wasn’t alone. Not that I am any good at science, or even understood any of the science jokes that are made on the show, but I too sometimes feel so socially awkward that I want to run away and spend the evening crying. Raj, I feel you there dude. These comedic characters eventually became so loveable that I watched all 11 series on Netflix about 4 times through. I told you I have no life.

Jane The Virgin

Okay, so this is one hell of a show. I don't even know where to start when writing about it. If you have an hour each evening to fully devote to this show, then great. But you have to promise yourself not to look at your phone, or you’ll get so lost you’ll have to rewatch the last three episodes. Dramatically wise, I just don't think you can get much better than this. The show combines every possible genre in a telenovela style, which is all brought together with a summary at the start of each episode by the fantastic narrator. The story follows Jane, who, as you can probably tell, is a virgin and also happens to be seriously catholic. However, everything changes when she is accidentally artificially inseminated and falls pregnant with a strangers child. All four seasons of this gripping show are on ‘The Flix’ and you can find out what happens to Jane whether she stays a virgin until marriage.

Doctor Who

This is just a timeless (excuse the pun) classic. Most people my age say ‘their’ doctor is Tennant to Eclseton. But mine is good old Mr. Matt Smith. Partly because I used to think I had a mini crush on the goofy but adorable Doctor. Obviously I realise now that it was actually because I was obsessed with Amelia Pond and found her whole ora quite sexy. So I would recommend watching seasons 5, 6 and 7.

RuPaul's Drag Race

Hey Kitty Girl! This show is incredible. RuPaul is an absolute idol. There isn’t much to explain about this one. It is what is says on the tin. A Drag competition to be crowned the next biggest drag queen. The prize is $100,000 dollars and a years supply of makeup! Although, I suppose the makeup probably won’t go that far. I must admit, I started from season six because I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did. It did take me a while to get fully into it, and yes, I thought the whole concept was a bit silly. But Ru’s words actually made sense to me. They all preach to accept ourselves and who we truly are. And the show has allowed me to do that too. Embrace my flaws and to accept the way I look. After 11 long seasons, drag race is finally coming to the UK! I will be watching religiously.

Touca and Bertie

This cartoon is perfect for a night when you’re completely out of your head smashed. It is the weirdest, funniest, most random work of art I have ever come across. It’ll make you think you might have accidentally consumed magic mushrooms, or eaten a weed brownie. It’ll make you giggle like a school girl, in my case mostly because I didn't really have a clue what was going on. This colourful animations about the unlikely friendship between two bird is bound to make you chuckle.

Come Fly With Me & Little Britain

These are just classics. What do I even need to say. If you haven’t binged every episode then you’re either lying or a total weirdo. David Walliams, despite what he may or may not have done, and Matt Lucas create endless comedic gold that never ceases to crack me up. My only wish is that it repeats on screens some time soon. The outrage. People would riot. Love it!

That's all for now folks.

I will be back with another of my Netflix Top Picks very soon!
